COMMUNITY TERROR Read online

Another creature leaped up in the air, “Noooo,” Anais screamed seeing that it was going to land on Niomi’s back. She pulled out her 3.80 from the holster and her 9mm squeezing the trigger to both guns, repeatedly, bullets ripped through the creatures flesh sending chunks if his meat flying onto the grass. It hollered in pain and landed on Niomi’s back. The weight of its body knocked her to the ground, losing grip of her bow. It slide a few inches from her reach. Anais knew the creature was only badly wounded and was already starting to heal while on top of Niomi. She ran towards her, to only be tackled like a football player, knocking her to the ground.

“Uuuggghhh!” she groaned in pain trying to catch her breath. My daughter and Anais' life flashed before my eyes. I gathered the strength I needed. It seemed like it came out of nowhere. I went over to the other side of the truck and exited while firing. The pellets from the shot gun tore holes in the creatures that knocked Anais down. It turned toward me angry and charged at me only to have its head exploded. I looked at Niomi and she had turned over on her back. The creature was on top of her and she was struggling with it. The creature outweighed her by hundred pounds. The creature was wounded, but its body was healing fast.

He opened his mouth to swallow Niomi’s head whole. I knew there was nothing that I could do. If I used the shotgun pellets, they would hit them both and by the time I drew my weapon to fire it would be too late. It felt as if time had slowed down, a tear traveled down my cheek from the thought of losing my only child. What happened next shocked me and the creatures both. Niomi reached behind herself moving her hand around for a second and pulled two arrows out of her holster on her back without wasting any time she let out a warrior's cry, "AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!" And with all her might plunged the arrows into both of his eyes. The creature hollered out in pain and stood straight up trying to shake Niomi free. The sight of it had me shocked. It looked like Niomi was fighting a giant. Her feet dangled over the ground. As a matter of fact, half of her did, Niomi refused to let go. She forced the arrows deeper and deeper into its eye sockets, puss and blood mixed with eye tissue squirted everywhere. “Ughhhh, Ughhhh!” the creature hollered loudly out of excruciating pain while dropping to its knees.

Niomi’s facial expression twisted in anger as she stood in front of the creature pushing down even harder. Blood squirted up in her eye, “Eww,” Niomi screamed as she stepped back wiping the blood out of her left eye. The creature dropped face first, pushing the arrows through the back of his skull.

“Come on, come on,” I shouted grabbing Niomi by her arm. She picked up her bow and Anais grabbed her shotgun.

“Where are we going? We can’t go back to the truck. It isn’t going to work!” Anais said with desperation in her voice.

“Grrrrr, grrrrr!” I could hear the creature growling in the distance. It was only a matter of time before they would catch up to us. “Hopefully, they would slow down when eating the creatures we killed!” I said out loud while we ran for our lives. We ran three blocks then turned the corner breathing hard and out of breath.

I noticed a living room light blinking off and on in a house down the block. “Come on follow me!” I said still hearing the growling not too far behind us. When we reached the house, the front door crept open. Anais, Niomi, and I all looked at each other.

“This same creepy shit! I can’t believe what just had taken place tonight and now you want us to go in a strange house, Andrew! You don’t think enough strange things have taken place already? I say we just continue to fight!” Anais said.

“Baby, there are too many of them for us to fight. The more of them we kill, even more will come. We need to find a place to hide, then figure out a way for us to escape this community! This isn’t the time for us to debate, let's just go in now!” I stated. Knowing we were running out of time, Anais shook her head and mumbled a few words under her breath, but follow my lead.

  Chapter 11

We all cautiously stepped toward the front door with our weapons ready for any surprise attack. We entered the house and shut the door behind us.

“Quickly, you all must hide in this room,” a tall slim brown skinned complexion man said. He looked kind of like a salesman that would work at Best Buy, trying to sell you a new T.V.

I didn’t get a bad vibe from him. Anais and Niomi looked at him surprisingly. Which they should, I wouldn’t want them to trust anyone, especially in a situation like this. I nodded my head and followed the man while my family followed me. We reached a door in the back of the house and the man stopped to open the door. The room was built like a medic room, a huge projector screen and a row of chairs.

There was a Caucasian women in her mid-30’s crying while holding a little brownish red headed girl that had to be no older than five. Her little arm was wrapped with a band. I guess that used to be white, but now it’s dark red soaked in blood. The little girl was lying in her mother’s lap, fast to sleep. There were another woman in the room with a cinnamon skin complexion with chestnut brown hair with beautiful eyes and also heavy set. Her weight was up to 250 pounds or more. Next to her was a boy that looked like a guy that let us in twin. We stepped into the room studying everything just waiting for one of them to make a wrong move.

“Hi, I’m Christopher. That's my wife Marilee, our son Jr. That’s Ms. Jenille, and her daughter, Jurea.”

"What the hell is going on here?” I asked still on guard, not trusting anyone.

“Shhhhh, keep your voices down. These things have excellent hearing. I’m not sure what’s going on, but I can tell you what I know so far. My wife and I moved here a month ago and a little girl would knock on our door every day asking for dog food. We would give her what she wanted, but something about her would freak me out. The other night I could hear my Jenille scream. She ran over to my place, but not before one of those things nearly ate her daughter's arm. I’ll let her tell the rest,” Christopher said.

Mrs. Jenille was playing with her daughter’s hair that had her head in her lap. While they sat in the dark caramel movie sofa that looked very soft, I could see her eyes watering up and trying to fight back the tears. “The other day when my husband, Darnell, told that little girl to stop knocking on our fucking door. That’s when the real problems started. That night he was screaming he saw monsters outside of our house. I thought he was losing his mind," Jenille said.

"Hmmm, sounds a lot like my wife. Never wanted to believe me until she saw it," I mumbled while looking at Anais. Anais squinted her eyes and looked at me as if she wanted to smack me on the back of my head, then she did. “Ouch,” I said.

“Be considerate while she is talking,” Anais said and then sat down on one of the chairs. Mimi followed her lead.

Jenille began to speak once more, “The next night the little girl came again. So Darnell grabbed her by the arm to take her home, then all hell broke loose. She snatched free from his grip and turned in to one of those monsters before our very eyes. She took a bite out of his chaff muscle then one more thing came out. He ran into the house and grabbed our gun and shot a few of them as they broke into the house, but they kept coming,” Jenille said.

The more she talked the more pieces of the puzzle I started to put together. I heard the gun shots the other night and played it in my mind. And I think I knew who Jenille's husband was, but prayed I was wrong as I continued to listen to her story. "Those monsters went after my daughter, taking a chunk of her arm. Eating away with a smile on its face. I tried to fight it off with a broom stick. My husband sneaked us out of the back door and told us to run to Christopher’s house while he led those monsters away from us and his plan worked,” Jenille said with her head down and while tears started flowing. “I could hear my husband screaming for help for hours. And no one would open their door to help him. The people that did thought he was crazy. A few hours later, I could hear him laughing as if he lost all hope, then his last scream. I knew in my heart those things, those monsters had finally got him,” Jenille said crying, hysterically.

Anais got up and held her, "Shhhhh, you must stay strong for your daughter. We’ll find a way out of this damn community,” Anais said.

“There is no way out. We’re stuck here. The land lines and cell phones don’t work. This community is as big as a small town and surrounded by a thick electric gate. How the hell are we going to escape this place? Please, tell me. I'd like to know,” Marie said speaking for the first time.

“Shut the fuck up! You may have given up, but I haven’t. We have children here. You want them to see you accept all the bad that’s happening. I don’t know about you, but my family and I are going to find our way out of here, even if we got to kill every last one of those things,” Anais shouted.

Marie twisted up her facial expression as if she wanted to say something, but was seconding her thoughts while looking at Anais grab her short hose shot gun. If Marie knew like I did, she would keep her mouth shut. My woman doesn't hesitate to beat someone’s ass and I could see it coming. "FIVE….FOUR…THREE…..TWO…… AND ONE," I counted down from looking at Marie. I knew she was about to open her mouth. I held my head down because I didn’t want to see what was going to happen next. Whatever it was, I knew it wouldn't be good.

“Well this is my house. You and your family can go back outside with those things where my husband found your ungrateful ass,” Marie said.

Niomi and I both shook our heads. “She done messed up now,” Niomi mumbled saying what I was thinking.

Anais pushed her shot gun into my chest to hold and calmly walked over to Marie. Wack! The sound echoed as she slapped Marie as if she stole something. Marie stood up straight, shocked and hurt at the same time. She was a heavy set women, but Anais was taller and stronger. “Listen bitch, you have one more time, just one more time to open up your mouth. I’m going to beat the living shit out of you until these things come. I like to give a fair warning. So you know why you’re getting your ass whipped,” Anais said. Wack! Then smacked Marie once more.

Christopher looked just as shocked as to what just happened to his wife, but dared not to move. “Okay, that’s enough, baby. You get some rest. That goes for all of you. I’ll take watch guarding y’all while you sleep,” I stated.

“Uhmmmm, it’s best we stay in this room. For some reason, those things can’t see us in here. They came into my house before and walked right passed the room and they never come out in the day time,” Christopher stated.

“Okay, we will stay in here, but I’ll stay and guard the door while everyone rests,” I replied and sat in front of the door on the floor. I took my book bag off my back and pulled out the shot gun shells and loaded my gun and Anais’s gun. I checked my watch that read 4 a.m., just one more hour until sunrise. I looked at Niomi and Anais. They both looked like they been through hell, but I was proud of how they handled themselves. Reacting not freezing up, knowing they were scared shitless. I knew I was. 'I got to find a way to get my family out of here, but how? Only if I could stop the current from flowing through that damn gate. Then my family and I can climb the fence and escape. Yea, that’s it. I just got to find the power source to the fence. It’s most likely in the community center next to the pool. I’m a damn genius,' I thought to myself.

I stopped staring at Niomi sleeping in Anais's arms and started being proud I had a plan. Christopher was fast to sleep, cuddling his wife and son. Jenille slept with her mouth open in a chair with her daughter in her lap. Something about her daughter’s wrapped arm caught my attention. Her arm was throbbing, more like pulsing like it had a heartbeat. Her eyes popped open as I moved closer to her.

It scared the shit out of me. ”Pshhhhhhshht, Pshhhhhhshht," I made a whisper sound to get Anais or Niomi's attention. I knew something wasn’t right. Niomi popped up from hearing my fake whispering and shook Anais awake.

“Mommy, I’m hungry,” the little girl said in a demonic tone.

“Oh hell no! It’s time for us to go!” I stated. Anais and Niomi inched towards me.

Jenille finally woke up after her daughter continued to shake her arm, "Jurea, mommy’s hungry too. But, we have to wait until the sun comes up. Then mommy will cook something for you so we can leave with the crazy family and see if we can escape this place,” Jenille said talking with her eyes closed, not even paying attention to what was going on with her daughter. The skin on her daughter’s face was now bubbling as if it wanted to fall off.

“Okay, we seen this show before. Are we seriously going to stand around to watch what’s going to happen next or shoot this little heifer and change the channel,” Anais stated.

“We can’t afford to shoot any guns. Those things will hear it,” I stated.

The little girl’s skin started to melt off. She bent over and threw up large black bugs that was mixed with whatever meal she had last. The bugs turned towards Anais and I. Anais freaked out screaming, "Ashhh!" She was one of the strongest women I know, but bugs made her act like a little girl. Five bugs ran towards us, I stepped on four of them really fast. The fifth one dodged my foot every time it came down.

“Oh, this mother fucker is smart,” I said shocked. It ran passed me and slipped up under the door. The bugs were big and black and looked as if they could fly. And I believe they did if it wasn’t for the fact their wings were wet. I noticed two more bugs left. They were by Jenillie's legs and started eating away, digging deeper and deeper in to her calf muscle. The new found pain woke her fully up. "NO! No! Ahhh!" she hollered as the bugs dug deeper in to her skin. Christopher and his family woke up and looked up terrified in the corner shaking. What happened next made every one scream like a little girl.

Jurea's head gotten bigger and teeth grew long and sharp like knives also her hair fell out. She opened up her mouth and locked it on to her mother’s neck. Jenille's screams were cut short as the sound of her choking on her own blood echoed through the room. Jurea ripped away her mother’s throat and gulped it down as if it was her last meal. Jenille's body hit the floor and went in to seizure like activity due to shock from the trauma. Jurea jumped on top of her mother’s body. Her finger nails grew longer right in front of my eyes. I felt as if I was trapped inside of a horror movie.

She swung left and right ripping open Jenille's stomach and scooped up her intestines sucking it up like it was spaghetti. She used her hands to dig around in the open wound of what used to be her mother’s stomach. She pulled out what I guessed was a kidney and bit in to it as if it was a pizza, blood mixed with green stuff seeping out of it and oozed all around her mouth. A huge large puddle of blood leaked out Jenille's stomach she turned her head and looked at us. I was surprised she was still alive with a huge part of her neck gone missing.

“What the fuck?” Anais said and turned to the side and vomited. Jenille pleaded for help with her eyes. Then an arrow flew straight in to the center of Jurea's skull, "Ahahahahah grrrr!" Jurea screamed and growled while looking around our directions. I’m guessing she wanted her meal squirming around, because she seemed very upset, but before she could growl again another arrow flew in to her mouth and came out from the back of her head.

Anais and I turned our heads to look at Niomi, with no facial expression as if none of what had taken place bothered her at all. She walked over to Jurea and Jenille's bodies, picked up the arrows from their skulls, and wiped them clean using Jurea's dress. Mimi turned around and looked at the facial expression on our faces that read, ‘What the fuck little girl? You’re getting too comfortable with killing.'

As if she read our minds she smiled, "What were we just supposed to stand there? Watching that little girl eat all of her mother and fully turn in to one of those things, then try to eat us? I don’t know about ya’ll, but I don’t want to be eaten alive. It looked painful."

I raised my left eyebrow and continued to stare at my child like who the fuck was she, the baby female Rambo. This situation has really changed her, but I’m proud she’s not weak at all. I made her stronger than any man. While looking at her, I noticed her left eye. That
the creature’s blood had squirted her when she stuck an arrow in to his eyes. Where it should be white, it’s all turned dark red. At first, I would have thought it was pink eye, but knew it was something else. "Run! Run!" a young girl’s voice said no louder than a whisper. It felt more like the wind had blown passed my ear, but I felt the presence of someone. I had this same feeling before in my house when all the weird things happened in my bathroom. Then the writing on the mirror that first told us that something was wrong. “Something isn’t right. We need to go now,” I stated.

“Yea, I heard it too,” Anais and Niomi said in unison.

“What are you talking about?” Marie asked.

“Nothing we just need to go,” I replied.

"My family is not going anywhere. We’re safe here,” Christopher said.

“So, you really think your foolish assess are safe here? Those creatures smell blood and they can’t control themselves. When they do, they eat their own kind. You have two dead bodies on the floor and guess what, a whole lot of blood,” Anais said.

“Don’t even waste your time, baby. We have to go now. And Chris I appreciate you helping me, thank you, but my family has to go,” I stated.

“No, we’re coming with you,” Christopher said.

“No Chris, why should we leave the comfort of our home to follow them? We’re safer here,” Marie said with her facial expression twisted up with an attitude rolling her eyes at Anais.

“Oh, this bitch just doesn’t know,” Anais said and shook her head.

“Ya’ll deal with it, come on,” I said cautiously opening the gate door and stepped out into the hallway with my shot gun in my hand leading the way. I walked down the hallway quietly and locked the door behind me to see Anais with her gun raised highly ready for anything. I looked down to see Niomi in between us, with her bow and arrow. She’s so short I almost didn’t see her. I stopped and removed my book bag off of me and I unzipped it and took what I needed out of it and passed Niomi the chrome sub nose 38 revelers and a box of the bullets. "Here you’re going to need this. There’s a little hustler that you clap to your belt,” I stated.
